A family-run enterprise for 25 years, Deepdale offers the best of both worlds. A stunningly lovely rural location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it has everything you need right on its doorstep.
Guests can stay in the campsite or hostel, both of which come with all mod-cons and a strong environmental theme. Everyone is encouraged to re-use and recycle and solar panels are much in evidence.
Whichever option you choose, Deepdale is a luxurious foray into communal living. Outside, the two Sioux-style tipis are immensely comfortable and spacious, with faux-fur camp beds and a fully-enclosed central wood burner making them very snug.
Indoors, some of the family rooms in the stables come with private bathrooms and everything is beautifully appointed. There are high, vaulted ceilings and terracotta walls in the country-style kitchen, stone floors and hippy cushions in the sitting room and even a flat-screen TV complete with DVDs and videos.
In the courtyard, redbrick and flint buildings are strewn with vines: the perfect setting for barbecues which are held on Friday evenings.
If you would like to stay in one of the tipis, it is advisable to book well in advance. The site operates an ‘all quiet’ policy after 22:00.
