This is a wonderful train ride, through 1.5 miles of private woodland which is a fantastically quirky experience. Beware stuffed tigers, elephants, bears and snakes… The train rushes through woods, under bridges, through cuttings and past stations where teddy bears gather.

In December Father Christmas appears on Santa Specials to hand out gifts from the grotto.

There’s a small gift shop, an extensive picnic area and a woodland walk on site and for a special treat go on Sunday to see the steam locomotives in action, complete with whistles.

Top Tip

If possible, arrive for the first Santa Special train.
