Bashall Barn - Clitheroe

Sometimes simplicity is the best option and Bashall Barn proves the point. An understated barn conversion on what is still very much a working farm.

Step inside and be engulfed by the farm shop. Set under oak beams, the big glass counter is full of cheeses, olives and salads perfect for a summer’s picnic or eating later.

For a better view of the stunning countryside, take the oak staircase to the mezzanine café and enjoy homemade cakes and scones alongside mums, ramblers and families of mountain bikers or on warmer days sit at a picnic table outside.

Pause on the way up, however, for a sight guaranteed to gladden anyone with a sweet tooth: the making of award-winning ice cream.

And if you’re more about ale than ice cream, there’s a microbrewery on site with a range of bitters for sale.
