If the name of the proprietor doesn’t lure you in to Rick Stein’s Café, then the wonderful smells of fresh coffee and sweet baking certainly will. Tucked away in one of Padstow’s older back streets it’s an undiscovered gem of a venue for a morning meal.
Breakfast here is a lush, leisurely experience. The café is attached to a B&B which gives it an especially homely feel and that feel is enhanced by padded seating and cushions and a mixture of pine, antique and modern furniture with nautical themed décor.
Once settled, the food, as you would expect from chefs in the employ of Mr Stein, is imaginitive without trying to be too clever. A full English option alongside a layered granola compote means there’s something for everyone, whether you’re after a blowout breakfast or healthy option, whilst for breakfast with a difference, try the Mexican tortillas with fried eggs or the delicious banana bread. And it’s all very reasonably priced with a warm welcome throughout.
Take single, rather than double, buggies as space is at a premium.
